What is the future of Artificial Intelligence.

Future of AI

"The history of science is a relentless drive to overcome our own cognitive limitations. " — John Krakauer

These were the words that spoke about Artificial Intelligence in coming future. Now you might be thinking, how AI will affect us and what are we going to do with it?

Don't worry; I have an answer for it .AI (artificial intelligence) has already affected our lives in many ways and its impact on future would be even bigger than humans can imagine. It's just like internet where we can see things outside ourselves but it also affects us indirectly as well like time waster, stress reliever etc.

In this post we are going to discuss few topics which will help us understand future of AI applications including some of the practical applications of artificial intelligence and then we'll try to understand what's next in AI coming future. So let's begin with it.

What are Artificial Intelligence technologies?

The term "artificial intelligence" was coined by John McCarthy, who defines it as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines". He also thought that this technology will be achieved in four different competitions which includes 1) a computer winning at chess, 2) computer winning at go, 3) computer understanding everyday language and 4) computers helping people with their daily tasks.

Now after 60 years of his prediction AI has affected our lives in many ways like Siri Apple's personal assistant on iPhone, google now personal assistant on android phones etc. There is also one more interesting thing, if we talk about AI definition and origins with other scientists the number of competitions will increase.

Some people say that there are 5 more competitions to fulfill as well which includes 1) a computer winning at soccer/football 2) a robot winning prizes in Olympics 3) a robot winning Nobel prize 4) a robot writing best selling novel and 5) AI creating its own language (yes, this is very possible).

What's next in Artificial Intelligence coming future?

Now let's come to modern days where researchers have built an AI system based on deep learning called "AlphaGo". This AlphaGo was able to beat Lee Sedol, one of the greatest Go player in history. But what makes this game so special that researchers are putting all their efforts to develop a stronger version of it?

Let's understand this with the help of an example. Suppose you have two options left and right but both paths lead to same place (which is smart). Our brain makes use of heuristics and rules to figure out the best possible option in these conditions. But if you have three or more options then things gets confusing and complicated for our limited mind. So what can we do? To get rid of these confusions we'll need artificial intelligence which will be capable enough to find better decisions than humans can figure out.

This was the reason why AlphaGo challenged Lee Sedol, because AI challenges maximum human minds/brains with better decisions making abilities against itself so that it can learn from them.

Donald John then said, "We are on the edge of an exciting time and we need to be bold in our thinking." Now we all know what happened after the challenge ,AlphaGo stunned humanity by beating Lee Sedol 4-1.

So do you think that making a decision making robot like AlphaGo is the future of artificial intelligence? I think so too because this technology has the power to improve human life in coming future. This technology will allow us to focus on more important things rather than spend hours in finding solutions for those confusions which may occur frequently in daily life.

Examples of Future Artificial Intelligence :

> Facebook Watch

>Facebook Friends Recommendations

>Siri,

>Alexa and other smart assistants

>Self-driving cars

> Robo-advisors

> Conversational bots

> Email spam filters

> Netflix’s recommendations

> Proactive healthcare management

> Disease mapping

> Virtual travel booking agent

> Social media monitoring

The future of artificial intelligence (AI) is exciting and holds many opportunities for innovation and progress. Here are some trends and predictions for the future of AI:

1, Advancements in deep learning:

Deep learning is a subset of machine learning that involves the use of neural networks with many layers. This technique has already led to significant advances in areas such as image and speech recognition, and it is expected to continue to make progress in areas such as natural language processing, robotics, and autonomous vehicles.

2, Increased use of AI in healthcare:

AI has the potential to transform healthcare by improving diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes. For example, AI-powered systems can analyze medical images and patient data to provide more accurate and personalized treatment plans.

3, The rise of explainable AI:

Explainable AI (XAI) refers to the development of AI systems that can provide clear explanations of their decisions and actions. This is an important development for ensuring transparency and accountability in AI systems, particularly in fields such as finance and healthcare where decisions can have significant consequences.

4, Greater integration of AI and the Internet of Things (IoT):

The IoT refers to the network of physical devices connected to the internet. As the number of connected devices continues to grow, AI will play an increasingly important role in analyzing the vast amounts of data generated by these devices and making decisions in real-time.

5, Continued ethical and regulatory challenges:

As AI continues to advance, there will be ongoing discussions and debates around issues such as bias, privacy, and accountability. It will be important for policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to work together to develop ethical and responsible AI systems.

6, Automation:

AI will keep doing things that people now do but more efficiently. This could involve anything from operating motor vehicles to overseeing warehouse goods.

7, Personalization:

Using AI, businesses will be able to tailor their goods and services to each client depending on their tastes and habits.

8, Education:

By giving pupils individualised learning experiences and automating administrative duties for teachers, AI has the potential to change education.

9, Transportation:

Increased usage of self-driving cars, optimization of traffic flow, and reduction of accidents.

10, Robotics:

AI-controlled robots perform complex tasks, work with humans, learn new skills and adapt to changing environments.

11, Finance:

Advancements in AI for fraud detection, market trend analysis, and prediction of stock prices. Virtual financial advisors and the use of AI to automate investment decisions.

12, Retail:

Personalization of shopping experiences, recommendations, and improving customer service. Virtual assistants for shoppers and the use of AI to optimize inventory management.

13, Gaming:

Development of more realistic and engaging experiences, virtual reality experiences adaptable to players' actions. Creation of more lifelike and intelligent non-player characters.

14, Ethics:

As AI becomes more prevalent in society, there will be a need to ensure that its development and use align with ethical principles.

15, Hollywood May Become Obsolete

Currently, streaming sites, like using a sort of AI to supply suggestions, supported your previous television and film viewing patterns. Similarly, sites like Spotify and Pandora use AI to assist you to create stations that exclusively play your favourite music. this is often just the start, as far as how AI will cater to our entertainment interests. within the future, AI applications may analyze our interests and draw upon them to make music and shows that use digital performers. Since everything is going to be supported personal preferences, we’ll rarely need to sit through a “flop” or a nasty song.

16, Fitness Wearables are Getting Smarter

Countless fitness enthusiasts around us use smart fitness wearables. Some people use them due to medical reasons while others just like to keep track of their fitness goals and stay healthy. Many companies have launched several gadgets like Apple’s smartwatch series, Samsung Galaxy smartwatch series, Fitbit, Xiaomi’s Fitness bands, and so on.

These wearables don’t just count your steps or monitor sleeping patterns. They also collect health-related data and can help detect irregularities related to your heart. These smart gadgets are getting smarter as some of these are being developed to detect diabetes. Google and Fitbit are working in collaboration to combine your electronic health records to your smart wearable devices.

17, Turning Smartphones into Personal Trainers

AI-based fitness apps are integrated into almost all smartphones these days. These apps are more than capable of tracking your repetitive fitness-related behavior and exercise patterns. Fitness apps use this data to help you remain fit and guide you towards improvements. Some of the best examples are Samsung Health apps and Apple’s fitness app, etc. that are pre-installed in smartphones now.

Although many apps are still in their early stages of development, they are being developed to use the phone’s camera and guide your exercise routine as every personal trainer does. This would help those people who can’t pay hefty amounts to hire professionally qualified personal trainers at their gym. These apps would be like virtual trainers providing real-time feedback and helping you improve your exercise postures.

18, Cyborg Technology

One of the main limitations of being a human being is our bodies and brains. Researcher Shimon Whitson hopes that in the future, we will be able to enhance ourselves with computers and build our own natural capabilities. While many of these cyborg enhancements are being added for convenience, others serve a more practical purpose. Nest's Yoki Matsuka believes that AI can be useful for people with broken organs because the brain can communicate with the robotic limb to give the patient more control. This type of cyborg technology significantly reduces the limits of dealing with amputees on a regular basis.

19, Taking up dangerous jobs

Robots are already taking some of the riskiest jobs available, including bombing. The BBC said these robots were not yet robots. They are technically used as a physical counterpart to disarm drones and bombs, but require humans to control them without using AI. Whatever their classification, they saved thousands of lives by taking over one of the world's most dangerous jobs. As technology improves, we will see more AI integration to help these machines work.

Other jobs for robot integration are also being reviewed. Welding, which is known to produce toxic materials, extreme heat and deafening noise, can now be outsourced to robots in most cases. RobotWorks explains that robotic welding cells are already in use and have safety features to prevent human workers from fumes and other bodily harm.

20, Resolving Climate Change

Resolving climate change may seem like a long order from a robot, but as Stuart Russell explains, machines have access to more data than ever before — storing mind-boggling statistics. Using big data, AI can one day track trends and use that information to come up with solutions to the world’s biggest problems.

21, Customer Service: Last but hardly least, Google is working on an AI assistant that can place human-like calls to make appointments at, say, your neighborhood hair salon. In addition to words, the system understands context and nuance.

23, Cyber Security

There were about 707 million cybersecurity breaches in 2015, and 554 million in the first half of 2016 alone. Companies are struggling to stay one step ahead of hackers. USC experts say the self-learning and automation capabilities enabled by AI can protect data more systematically and affordably, keeping people safer from terrorism or even smaller-scale identity theft.

24, Ethical and legal considerations:

As AI becomes more prevalent, there will be a need to address ethical and legal issues related to the use of AI, such as privacy concerns, bias, and the potential for job displacement.

Overall, the future of AI is promising, and it has the potential to transform many aspects of our lives for the better. However, it will be important to address the challenges and risks associated with AI to ensure that it is used in a responsible and beneficial way.
